This micro credential introduces CAD (Computer Aided Design) as a process to create digital design information and technical documentation for projects. The module will introduce digital working environments, software, workflows and allow for development of capabilities across platforms associated with contemporary practice.
The module covers the features, commands and techniques for creating, editing and printing drawings. From the program interface, you will progress to fundamental drawing, editing tools and utilities for precise and accurate drawing. Introducing common practices and tips will allow learners to use CAD efficiently and bring drawings to professional industry standard.

This course starts at the very beginning, and trains you to use Autodesk’s AutoCAD software to create and amend 2-dimensional drawings. To take the course, you should have a basic knowledge of computers, and be familiar with using basic operating systems to open files, save documents and access drop-down menus.

The main entry requirement for this course is that applicants must have basic computer skills. You should have a basic knowledge of computers, and be familiar with using basic PC software to open files, save documents and access drop-down menus.
We welcome international students to our courses. If English is not your first language, evidence of proficiency is required. This can be provided through a recognised English test result or qualified by experience e.g. where an individual has been working in an English speaking environment for 12 months +.
This course has been structured to create and support progression pathways for you in your studies. Upon successful completion of this course, there are many options for you to progress. You could consider an array of courses with us across Fashion, Graphic and Interior Design as well as a diverse range of study and delivery modes part-time, full-time, online and in-class. A popular one with CAD graduates is often our 10-week Associate Certificate in Interior Design.
We encourage our students to look at short courses as stepping stone options to other courses including nationally accredited, internationally recognised degree programmes.
