Terms & Conditions
1. Enrolment and Fees:
1.1 All course fees must be paid in full before the course commences by the date communicated, unless an instalment plan has been agreed in writing/email. Where fees are paid in more than one instalment an instalment charge will apply.
1.2 Commencement of a course is deemed to constitute acceptance of liability for full course fees.
1.3 Dublin Design Institute (DDI) operates a strict policy of non-refund of deposits or fees, the single exception being circumstances in which students have paid a deposit or fees for a course which fails to commence.
1.4 All course details, including content, schedules and fees are subject to change. DDI endeavours to keep these changes to a minimum.
1.5 For courses longer than one year’s duration, fees may change for years subsequent to the first year.
1.6 Course Fees may be deferred or transferred to another course in exceptional circumstances. However, any transfer of fees is at the sole discretion of DDI and will not be deemed to constitute a precedent.
1.7 Courses may be cancelled in circumstances in which they fail to attract a viable enrolment.
1.8 Additional charges for certification and Learner Protection (PEL) apply to specific courses. This fee is reviewed for each academic year, and students will made aware of these charges prior to course commencement.
2. Cancellations
2.1 In the event of course cancellation by DDI, any refund made will be payable only to the party making the original payment.
2.2 Students registered on our 1 Year or BA Degree Degree Courses: Students wishing to cancel their course must provide written notification of this cancellation. Cancellations received 31 days or more before the course start date will be entitled to a refund of all fees paid, less the course deposit. Cancellations received 30 days or less before the course start date will be liable for 100% of the course fees. Non EEA students should also refer to 4.1. Where an applicant makes a course application 30 days or less and subsequently cancels their course place, they will be liable for 100% of the applicable course fee.
Students Registered on Associate Certificate/Short Courses: Students wishing to cancel their course must provide written notification of this cancellation. Cancellations received 15 days or more prior to the course start date will be entitled to a refund of all fees paid less the course deposit. Cancellations received 14 days or less before the course start date will be liable for 100% of the course fees. Where an applicant makes a course application 14 days or less and subsequently cancels their course place, they will be liable for 100% of the applicable course fee.
3. Deferral
3.1 Applications for deferral of studies and suspension of studies are subject to additional conditions that are made available to enrolled learners.
3.2 Applications for deferral of studies and suspension of studies are approved at the Institute’s discretion.
4. Non-EEA Students
4.1 In the event that a Non-EEA student is refused a study visa, full course fees will be refunded less a €250 administration charge. Students must provide verifiable proof of visa refusal. In all other circumstances, the standard cancellation policy (Section 2) will apply.
5. Student work
5.1 Student work output, comprising of original projects and assessments and all submitted work is the property of DDI. DDI reserves the right to copy, use, exhibit, reproduce or publish any such work for any purposes deemed fit by DDI, while not compromising the intellectual property rights of the student. DDI reserves the right to use images of students for promotional purposes.
6. General
6.1 Students must familiarise themselves with the contents of the student handbook, which details the learner charter with which students are obliged to comply. Students are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a manner which demonstrates respect for DDI, its staff, fellow students and property. Breaches of the learner charter may lead to disciplinary action by DDI, up to and including expulsion from the Institute.
6.2 DDI reserves the right to change course content and structure, lecturers, dates and locations.
6.3 DDI reserves the right to record classes / lectures / practical / studio sessions, whether delivered in class or online.
6.4 Students are not permitted to record classes / lectures / practical / studio sessions, whether delivered in class or online, without the express advance consent of the supervising lecturer.
6.5 Prior to course commencement, applicants are required to inform the Institute about any requirements or medical conditions that may require specific supports. Applicants so indicating may be asked to provide supplementary information. Medical information is treated as confidential and sensitive data but may need to be shared with members of the Institutes lecturing & administrative staff and external accrediting bodies and their agents as part of the provision of the Institutes services.
6.6 The Institute collects, uses and manages students personal data solely for purposes related to the delivery of the Institute’s education and training programmes. The Institute employs a number of third party systems for these purposes.
6.7 Fees and charges are subject to change. Increases in external costs will be passed to the student.
6.8 DDI is not liable for loss of, or damage to, any student’s property.
6.9 DDI or its staff are not responsible for injury to any student caused by the student’s own negligence or disregard of DDI regulations.
6.10 These Terms and Conditions may be amended from time to time.
6.11 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Laws of the Republic of Ireland.
